Apologetics

Apologetics is giving a logical reason for your faith in any
culture that has objections toward your beliefs.

The English word apology comes from a Greek word that means “to give a defense”. The goal of Christian Apologetics is to get people to change their worldview and accept reality-Christianity. There are many reasons why we should do apologetics. The following are just five reasons why we should to apologetics:

1. Personal call – Acts 22:1; 25:16; 1 Cor. 9:3
2. Proclamation of the gospels – Phil. 1:7
3. Persuading purity of heart – 1 Pet. 3:5
4. Preserving the faith – Jude 3
5. Properly presenting the product of your faith – Col. 4:6

The Christian’s faith is under attack from those who don’t believe in Christianity, but within the Church of Christ there are those who hold false views that have no biblical basis. If we don’t stand up for the Scripture and encourage people to return to the Holy Scripture, it won’t be long before those who will come after us would either be heretics or atheists. For those of you who think that I love argument, you are wrong, it is not about arguments, but glorifying and honoring the name of Christ. The growing number of cults and world religions today are causing problems for the church of Jesus Christ. They are spreading in unprecedented proportions by aggressive evangelizations, whereas, the Church of our Lord is sleeping. We believed that Jehovah’s

Witnesses, Mormons, New Age, Christian Science and many other groups that denied the Trinity, Resurrection of Christ, Salvation by grace, and many other essential doctrines as cults.

Let me say that if anyone who professes to be a Christian and can’t give good reason why they believe in Jesus Christ, is of no use to the kingdom of God. Each of us should be effective in witnessing apologetically that non-believers would be attracted to Christ. This contemporary culture with its postmodern thinking will not stop attacking biblical truths. Therefore, I plea with ever believer by the grace and mercy of God, let us study to show ourselves worthy to be entrusted with His Word. Christians find their beliefs challenged on every side. That is why they need to be prepared to defend their faith. The only way we can be effective in defending our faith is by studying and relying on the leading of the Holy Spirit. There are many worldviews that are in opposition to Christianity. Christianity is not a worldview, but a reality. There are intellectual answers for skeptics and agnostics, but these require a life that is devoted to the Word and also devoted to walking in the Spirit. A true apologist of Christ will offer hope to hurting people by pointing them to the grace of God.
