Penuel Training Center

The Penuel Training Center was built with a purpose far greater than classrooms or buildings.

Penuel

Face to face with God

The Penuel Training Center was built with a purpose far greater than classrooms or buildings. In Scripture, Penuel is the place where Jacob encountered God face‑to‑face and was forever changed.

That same vision shaped this center. It is a place where pastors come not only to learn, but to meet God, be strengthened by His Word, and be transformed for ministry.

Step 01 2021

Foundations Laid

In the spring of 2021, just outside Careysburg, the first foundations of the training center were laid in the quiet of the African bush. It was simple work at the beginning—blocks, earth, and faithful hands—but everyone sensed that God was planting something far greater than a building. Hope was taking root.

Step 02

The Bush Rising With the Walls

As the walls began to rise, the bush rose with them. The undergrowth thickened almost overnight, and when the rainy season arrived, the vegetation surged even faster—as if the land itself was reminding us that nothing in Liberia stays still for long.

Step 03

Steady, Faithful Work

The work continued faithfully, and little by little the center rose from the ground. With every block set and every board nailed, the dream of a place to train pastors in God’s Word became more real.

Step 04

The Training Hall

The training hall rose slowly, becoming the largest and final structure on the grounds. Built to welcome 400 Liberian pastors, it stood as the heart of the center—a place where God’s Word would be taught, shared, and lived out for generations.

Step 05

Approaching Through the Bush

Near completion, the center could be seen from the dirt road through the thick bush—a clear view before the wall was added.

Step 06

The Need for a Wall

As the buildings rose, we realized the center needed a strong wall around it. The elements, the wildlife, and even a few unexpected guests reminded us that creating a safe place for pastors to gather was just as important as building the classrooms themselves.

Step 07

Storm Damage and Rebuilding

The wall was finished just in time for the rainy season, but when one of the fiercest storms swept through, part of it collapsed. What had been built once had to be built again—another reminder that ministry in Liberia is never simple.

Step 08 Easter 2025

Clean Water at Last

Once the wall stood firm a second time, the workers turned to the next need: clean water. They drilled deep into the earth, and on Easter morning 2025—after passing 350 feet—water finally came. It was a moment of provision that now supplies the entire compound.

Step 09

Pastors training in the New Training Hall

Today the center is alive with pastors gathering for conferences and training, taught by visiting American pastors along with Pastor Rich and his faithful Liberian team, who work together to encourage and equip Liberia’s church leaders.

Step 10

Graduates Equipped for Ministry

Over 70 pastors have completed the Bible Training Center for Pastors program, leaving equipped, strengthened, and ready to shepherd their churches with a deeper understanding of God’s Word.

Looking Ahead

Hope for the Future

And our hope is for the future. From above, you can see the open space reserved for a future dining hall—an addition that will allow training to continue unhindered, even when the rains return.

Biblical truth for Liberia. Hope for generations.
